May 19: Flowering trellis
“She turned to the sunlight
And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:
"Winter is dead.”
― A.A. Milne, When We Were Very Young
Winter is finally dead, announced by the climbing clematis and rose buds adorning the trellis! The buds all popped at the same time - making for a splendid display. Something profound about the end of winter, with spring bringing new life and excitement...even though the preparation for it has been going on unseen all winter! It is good to know that each day we can start afresh, as with each season and each year, always with something to look forward to, so we can get through the darker, colder days.
