June 2: Art in nature

To so enter into it in nature and art that the enjoyed meanings of life may become a part of living is the attitude of aesthetic appreciation. George Herbert Mead

This daily blog began as a gratitude journal, to help me on my journey in a new country to find something beautiful or amazing or ordinary every day, and give thanks for it! It has trained me in keeping a watchful eye for anything different that may catch my attention...and on my run today I saw these chopped down trees that were felled after loosing limbs in the terrible storms. They did not look like a mess all over the sidewalk, but looked beautiful and fascinating. Each curve and ring exactly where it is supposed to be, perfect in creation, and transformed into art under a carpenter's saw. How many storms has this tree seen that have carved some of the scars into its bark? How many sunny days? How many seasons? Each ring has a story to tell if we just stop and look closely.
