March 7: The making of Narnia

“This is the land of Narnia,' said the Faun, 'where we are now; all that lies between the lamp-post and the great castle of Cair Paravel on the eastern sea.”
― C.S. Lewis, The Chronicles of Narnia

The snowstorm by degrees...or by the hour! Based on our previous storms, I haven't rely bothered to do much shoveling since there has only been one or two inches, and it melts in no time with the elevated temperatures. There was so much hype about this one, but the 'cry wolf' kicked in and nothing much happened for hours...so I didn't clear any of the snow...however, after a few hours I realized the snow wasn't going to be melting in a hurry, so between Nic and I we cleared the driveway....probably took a good three hours! This was the most amazing and destructive snow I have seen. It was wet and heavy, clinging to everything, weighing down the limbs of trees and snapping them off. The quiet destructive force of nature should not be underestimated! But on the other hand, it created this magnificent fairytale scene, just as though you were stepping through the cupboard and straight into Narnia.
