January 26: Loyalty

Love is friendship that has caught fire. It is quiet understanding, mutual confidence, sharing and forgiving. It is loyalty through good and bad times. It settles for less than perfection and makes allowances for human weaknesses. Ann Landers

For dogs, love and loyalty is unconditional and wholehearted, with none of the weaknesses of humans. He is waiting patiently for his best friend to come home and throw the ball for him....he is going to be waiting for a while! I often look at them and wish I could have the same sense of unconditional love, forgiveness and loyalty...they are excellent teachers and companions.
