February 24: Pruning

Everything has seasons, and we have to be able to recognize when something's time has passed and be able to move into the next season. Everything that is alive requires pruning as well, which is a great metaphor for endings. Henry Cloud

The next exciting follow-up to the coming of spring is the warmer temperatures, and actually being able to be outside without the chance of frostbite! So, after work on an unusually warm day, I decided to tackle the task that I have been putting off - pruning the ornamental grasses so they can once again put on a majestic display in the summer. Pruning was made a little easier with the electric hedge trimmers obtained from the sidewalk in the summer....so although I complain about consumerism where we live, it occasionally has some perks...being able to pick up others trash that has been replaced by the latest version. Nothing like a good prune to get ready for the new season..winter must just hurry up and end...enough already!
